About
The mission of Oneighty is to glorify God by making disciples through reaching out to youth in our community with the gospel of Jesus Christ, connecting them in relationships with other Christians, and equipping them to grow in their faith, serve others, and offer their lives to God.
Following Jesus
In Luke 19:10, Jesus states his purpose on earth: “…the Son of Man came to seek and save what was lost.” God reached out to us through his son, Jesus Christ. God took on humanity, so that we might be reconciled to him. And just as Jesus reached out, it is our goal to reach out to the teens of our community, through outreaches, weekly meetings, and other events.
More than meetings
In John 1, verse 14, the apostle John tells us that, “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” Jesus, God-incarnate, came and took on humanity, so that he might be a substitutionary sacrifice for those who would believe in him. Jesus can relate to us, our struggles, our challenges, our humanity. Just as Jesus came and related to us, so we want to relate with our teens, to build relationships with them and help them build relationships with others, and ultimately tell them how to relate to God through Jesus Christ.
New Life
Paul tells us in Ephesians 2:4-5 that although we all were once spiritually dead, God has made us alive in Christ. It is by God’s grace through faith in Jesus that we receive new life from the Holy Spirit. This is the gospel of new life that we want to present to our teens continually. We want our teens to experience new birth and a faith in Jesus that grows into a vibrant, holy passion for God. In all that we do, our desire is to present the gospel clearly and unashamed and then to connect it every part of life (friends, family, school, sports, music, work, the future, etc.). Through the gospel, the lost are presented with a chance for authentic new life and the believer is strengthened in his or her walk with Christ.
Our teens face a host of forces in the world that all seek to define them. In the middle of all these influences, we are praying that we would reach our teens and effectively communicate God’s story of redemption. We hope to guide them to the hero of redemption, Jesus Christ, and ultimately join them on the journey that begins with new life in Christ.
