Where is the camp?
Camp Sandy Cove is in High View, WV. This camp is located 20 minutes away from Warrenton, VA on 187 acres of land. All the information on the camp can be found at www.campsandycove.org.
How are you getting there?
By Charter Bus! We have rented a charter bus to pick us up following the Oneighty service on Wednesday night, September 1st and taking us directly to Camp Sandy Cove about 80 minutes away. These charter buses will be driven by registered professional bus drivers and will put our safety as their primary concern. We will plan to arrive into High View, WV around 10:30pm.
Will there be chaperones taking care of my child?
We are planning to have 14 chaperones for this event. All chaperones are 19 years of age and over and will take very good care of your teen throughout the three-day camp. Your teen will find out his rooming assignment and camp chaperone upon arrival. Each dorm where your teen will be assigned will have a capacity for 8 people. Each male dorm will be assigned to a female dorm to participate in activities and games throughout.
My son has allergies; will I be aware of the menu to help my child navigate around his/her allergies?
YES!!! The menu and food items offered will be available to review the week before the camp. If you are in need of this information, please contact Pastor Eddy at ebarnes@gracecov.org
How many people per room?
Each dorm will have 8 people per room. Once your teen arrives at the camp, we will place him/her in their groups, give them their group leaders, and assign the following tasks for them to complete: Group name, group slogan, design a "group buff" you'll be given at arrival.
Will my child be able to bring a cell phone in case of an emergency?
Your child is allowed to bring their phone, however, we greatly encourage them to leave it at home to due to the lack of cell phone coverage in the area. Along with that, there tends to be a high casualty rate of phones that are brought. We will provide emergency numbers in case you need to contact your son or daughter.
Will my child be forced to participate in the activities?
Absolutely not! They have the ability to pick and choose what they want to participate in based on their comfort level. Here is a list of activities available throughout the two days: High Ropes Course, Low Ropes Course, Zip Line, Trapeze Swing, Archery, Swimming, Climbing Wall, and much more.
