COLLIDE - Getting the Most Out of LIfe's Difficulties: One thing is certain about life...you're going to get SIDESWIPED by challenges, hurts, pain, and difficulties. When you COLLIDE with those challenges, how will you respond? Will they make you stronger or more cynical? How will your view of God be after the wreckage has been cleaned up? Why do difficulties enter our life in the first place? Do we have anything we can count on, depend upon, lean on to get us through difficulties when we're at our weakest?
All these questions and more will be answered in this Summer Series as we go through the book of I Peter. What's fascinating about this short but powerful book is that the church in Asia Minor Peter is writing to from Rome is going through the toughest season of life individually and as a church. The region had been ravaged by the first ever persecution of the Christian Church resulting in random crucifixions, Christians losing their businesses, defaced through lies and deception, being randomly placed in The Arena with wild animals, being chosen to wear the "tunica rustica" which was a gasoline drenched tunic that was lit on fire, being chosen to be put on a stake in Nero's garden and lit on fire as a "lamp" to allow him to ride his horse at night, and so much more.
This was the setting of this letter. A church facing a collision of hardship and pain that for many cost them their life...but doing so with a "living hope" as their fuel. A hope that was expressed and proven in the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. As we go through this book, we guarantee you will find hope and purpose in the life of Jesus as you face whatever challenge you are currently in. It is our hope that you meet Jesus in a brand new way as you see how he has paved a way through His life that gives you hope and strength as you face whatever this world has to offer.
